Job DescriptionAlamon, Inc. is seeking a Telecommunication Installer for its Network Services department.
This position entails: central office installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of telecommunication equipment and network infrastructure. The Telecommunication Installer will learn how to build and mount bays and shelves, build ironwork, and install cable racks. This position will also run and sew cables and terminate fibers. This position requires extensive travel.
- Install and configure telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, modems, and related hardware.
- Perform maintenance, install updates, and monitor performance.
- Diagnosing and resolving network and equipment issues.
- Install and terminate cable in accordance with industry standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all equipment, installations, configurations, troubleshooting, and changes made to the network system.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and clients to understand requirements and address any issues.
- Must understand how to use hand tools, test equipment, and possess the ability to use a computer to interface with customer products.
- Communicate effectively, including proficiency in written and verbal communications, with strong listening skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
- Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
- Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
- Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
- Work conditions may include working in a partially controlled indoor air environment.
- May be subjected to noise levels which may range from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
- Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
- Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
- This position requires extensive travel.
- Lodging and transportation will be provided while traveling and working for the company.
- High school Diploma or GED preferred.
- Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.
- Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities
- Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy.
- Have the ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Computer Suite including Excel and Word.
- Possess strong network configuration and installation skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- General understanding of how to read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer-provided work orders.
