Position OverviewLead Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting the Facilities Director in scheduling and completing maintenance tasks across the University’s buildings, including the downtown Dallas Law Center.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of experience in related maintenance/repair field (substitution of education for experience allowed)
- Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with standard tools and general maintenance practices
- Knowledge of safety precautions and building maintenance hazards
- Blueprint, schematic and drawing reading skills
- Basic shop math and problem‑diagnosis abilities
- Physical ability to lift, crawl, and work outdoors in inclement weather
- Valid driver’s license and university vehicle insurance coverage
- Strong communication and supervisory skills
- Reiterates minimum qualifications (high school diploma or GED and three years experience)
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MEP equipment at the downtown Dallas location.
- Inspect and verify satisfactory completion of work by contractors and others.
- Perform routine maintenance to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Operate computer‑based Building Management System.
- Operate and reset Fire Alarm system, Fire Sprinkler System, Fire Pump, Stair Pressurization fans, smoke curtains, fire dampers, etc.
- Willingness to work overtime and unconventional hourly schedules.
- Willingness to perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
- Elevated temperatures.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts or vibration.
- Low temperatures.
- Noisy environments.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM and as needed.
