Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is between $32.00 – $46.00 per hour
. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Job Purpose

The Field Service Technician III is a key member of our field service team responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers and related equipment. Maintaining safety is the top priority. This role requires assisting with training and mentoring less experienced technicians. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasionally work is performed near moving mechanical parts, at heights, hazardous places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature extremes, fumes, traffic, potential electrical shock hazards, noise pollution, and vibration.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the safety culture.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training programs and meetings.
  • Perform basic testing as a crew lead on transformer installation, maintenance and emergency work.
  • Install, test and maintain electrical apparatus including transformer theory of operation knowledge.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and problem‑solving during inspections and apparatus testing.
  • Understand the theory behind and reason for testing, with the ability to analyze results.
  • Create plans for testing apparatus.
  • Practical operator of the oil vacuum processing rig and top‑off transformers.
  • Administrative duties as assigned (inspections, job brief, and work order system).
  • Communicate clearly internally and externally.
  • Install and commission Calisto and other monitoring systems.
Qualifications Required
  • Must have 5 or more years of industry experience.
  • High School diploma or GED. Supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are desired.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license, and be able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to pass a fit‑for‑duty exam.
  • Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 75% as needed.
Preferred
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • NCCO Crane Certification
  • Some knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions required in working in a power distribution facility.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of power generation and distribution metering and recording devices.
  • Ability to learn the practices and procedures of the industry.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
