We place a high value on experience with walking floor systems, hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and trailer hydraulics. If you have this background, you’ll stand out. GWT services a wide range of specialized trailers – your hydraulic skills are a major asset.
Trailer Technician Responsibilities- Inspect and repair semi-trailers, including brakes, wiring, bodywork, lift gates, and more.
- Install and replace add-on components such as toolboxes, winches, and ramp kits.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems – walking floors, hydraulic pumps, hoses, cylinders, and valves on trailers.
- Perform fabrication and welding as needed.
- Complete service reports and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
- Experience with hydraulic systems: walking floor trailers, hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and hose repair.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Own a personal set of hand tools (except in California).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with semi-trailer equipment and maintenance.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools safely and efficiently.
- Willingness to work overtime when needed.
- 3+ years of experience in semi-trailer repairs.
- Valid driver’s license (a plus but not required).
- Certified brake and FHWA inspector or ability to obtain certification.
- Industry certifications, such as ASE or welding certification.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a valuable asset.
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
- Work may be performed in a shop, yard, or mobile service environment.
- Exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and varying temperatures.
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
