Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Field/Traveler
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. invites applications for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Field/Traveler position in Dallas, TX. This role involves supporting heavy equipment maintenance at yard and job sites, requiring travel.

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, tracks, diesel engines, and transmissions on construction equipment and cranes.
- Maintain a safe shop work environment.
- Communicate equipment issues with supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Operate/maneuver heavy equipment on site safely and effectively.
- Check daily to ensure equipment functions properly and safely.
- Store equipment safely and securely when not in use.
- Order needed parts from vendors when required.
- Operate and test equipment after repair.
- 5+ years as a heavy equipment mechanic with a large construction company.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and safety processes in commercial, civil, and/or marine construction.
- Knowledge of maintenance, storage, schematics, and diagrams.
- Necessary tools to perform the work assigned.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to weld and fabricate (preferred).
- Ability to meet daily activities according to schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Multi-tasking and fast‑paced work ability.
- Dependable attendance schedule.
- Strong lifting, squatting, crawling, and confined space work capability (lift up to 50 lbs).
- Strong work ethic, teamwork, customer service, verbal and written skills.
- Age 18+.
- Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization.
- Preferred TWIC credentials and CDL.
