- Performs vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
- Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs including engine, mechanical and electrical systems, and parts replacements as required
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as required
- Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean during the repair process
- Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options for repairs as required
- Communicate with service advisor and/or dispatcher if additional work is needed
- Aid the service writer by writing work orders, conducting test rides, and interacting with customers to ensure satisfaction
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts
- Maintain a clean, efficient work area and keep the shop organized
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with SOPs
- Understand automobile terminology and stay abreast of technology changes in the product
- Follow attendance, timekeeping, and conduct policies; record shift times as required
- Adhere to Code of Business Ethics and Conduct and company work rules
- Uphold confidentiality policies and maintain professional appearance
- Attend pertinent training and company meetings as required
- High school diploma or equivalent with two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
