Position Summary

Alamon, Inc., a Montana‑based employee‑owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. This position is located in Dallas, TX and requires extensive travel to central offices, MSO, and data centers. The Telecommunication Technician Level 3 will install equipment including Adtran, Cisco, Ciena, Infinera, Fujitsu, Calix, Nokia, and other vendors. The role must have Lumen, installation, and testing experience and a safety‑oriented mindset.

Job Description
  • Act as a lead technician and provide Level 3 expertise.
  • Work on the road for extended periods.
  • Understand and apply Central Office installation standards (Telcordia GR-1275, Lumen 77350/77385, ATT TP-76300/TP-76400, Verizon IP72202 ISS 5-1 Core).
  • Read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer work orders.
  • Plan and coordinate high‑risk activities, including fiber deployment and hot cuts.
  • Use hand tools, test equipment, and computer interfaces efficiently.
  • Safely operate power tools such as bandsaws, rotary tools, cable cutters, hammer drills, and hydraulic crimpers.
  • Manage and maintain tool inventories.
  • Conduct daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Assist in training Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and incident reporting procedures.
  • Install relay racking, cable racking, fiber ducts, and auxiliary framing.
  • Splice and route copper and fiber cables (RJ45, wire wrapping, BNC, LC/SC, etc.).
  • Lace, stitch, and sew central office wire.
  • Install DC power rectification, batteries, fuse panels, and BDFB/BDCBB.
  • Collaborate with customer supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
  • Operate Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Communicate effectively with strong listening skills.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Pass pre‑employment screening: background check, drug test, and motor vehicle records.
  • Work outdoors in physically demanding conditions; lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI/DWI in past 5 years.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel locally, statewide, or regionally.
  • Available to work nights and weekends as required.
Work Environment
  • Travel nationwide to Alamon customer sites.
  • Work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor tasks based on contract scope.
  • Potential exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, noise, and wet or slick surfaces.
  • Wear PPE in compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Outdoor work in varied weather conditions; long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Demands
  • Physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ride in a vehicle for extended periods.
  • Work at different temperatures and through changing weather.
  • Walk, climb, reach, bend, crawl, kneel, or stretch as required.
  • Distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi‑colored cabling.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment.
  • Work at heights, handle ladders, push, and pull equipment.
Travel Requirements
  • Extensive travel is required.
  • Lodging is provided while traveling for the company.
Education and Experience
  • Trade school or equivalent installation experience.
  • Compliance with Central Office / MSO / Data Center standards.
  • DC Power (-48

    VDC) knowledge and ability to install and perform hot cuts.
  • Knowledge of Lumen practices 77350.
  • CIENA 6500 / Infinera GX30 installation preferred.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and multitasking abilities.
