Overview
The Underground Foreman position is a skilled role in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical underground distribution systems.
Essential Functions- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground systems.
- Able to coach crew members and lead a crew in safe and productive work procedures.
- Possesses working knowledge of leadership, management and training for lower skilled employees.
- Lead and teach underground services, infrastructure and duct banks.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
- Possess working knowledge of all aspects of underground distribution and troubleshooting underground circuitry.
- Work around energized high voltage systems with care to protect lives.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
- Comply with company reporting procedures and complete required paperwork.
- Coordinate and inspect the work of crew members; plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
- Perform rigorous physical labor; identify primary and secondary voltages on a circuit; understand induced voltage.
- Be familiar with tools for terminating cable and proper PPE usage; install/remove PPE and cover up.
- Understand grounding procedures and how to obtain a one-shot on a reclosure.
- Capable of working in confined spaces and safely operating equipment.
- Test and classify soil; identify underground pulling equipment; have knowledge of line protection devices.
- Inspect rubber goods and PPE; understand flag and tag procedures.
- Work outside in inclement weather; glove/work live high voltage distribution lines as required.
- Perform related duties as needed to complete the job.
- 5 years of recent field experience
- 2 years in a leadership position
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English
- Must possess a CDL and demonstrate safe driving
- Able to travel long distances on short notice; work extended periods in various locations
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs
- Able to inspect rubber goods and PPE
- Willing to work overtime and outside of normal schedule including weekends and holidays

Work EnvironmentExposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasional exposure to extreme conditions at construction sites. Noise levels can be loud. Outside weather conditions are common.
