Position Summary
This position performs standardized electrical repair duties requiring a basic knowledge of electrical/electronic theory while becoming familiar with high voltage equipment. The individual is expected to identify and remedy problems using independent judgment.

- Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment.
- Locates and determines electrical malfunctions.
- Repairs the electrical components of pneumatic, hydraulic, or electronic equipment. Uses technical manuals, electrical schematics, and one‑line diagrams. Assists in maintaining files and records of plant electrical equipment and the work order management system.
- Performs electrical preventive maintenance.
- Maintains calibration and repair schedules for electrical test equipment.
- Assumes the duties of Senior Electrician as required.
- Might be assigned some lead duties of more junior level electricians to include training and communicating routine instructions. Conveys and receives information in written and verbal forms to others. Maintains good communication with supervisors and coworkers.
- Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority.
- May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including after‑hours, as directed by supervisor.
- Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations, including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because, in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
Regularly leads the work of other employees.

Qualifications EducationHigh school diploma or GED.
ExperiencePossess a Journeyman Electrician license or four years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Texas driver's license. Class C Surface Water Treatment Operator License within three years.
KnowledgeMust be knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices. Be knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment. Basic computer skills to enter and maintain information in a computerized maintenance management system.
Skills And AbilitiesHave the ability to read schematics and one‑line drawings.
Guidance ReceivedFollows general instructions and established precedents. Follows general supervisory instructions, as well as policies and precedents open to judgment in some areas and more specific guidelines, policies, and procedures in others. Based on knowledge of policies, precedents and procedures may regularly assist others with standard work methods and problems.
Physical DemandsThis position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position.
Working ConditionsWorking conditions include exposure to extreme weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working with low/high voltage, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces.
Tools And Equipment UsedElectrical and testing equipment, PPE, hand tools, power tools, generators, pumps, and trucks.
