About the Role

Walker Engineering is seeking a Certified Fiber Splicer to support commercial building and data center projects across the DFW area. This role is hands-on and field-based, focused on fiber termination, splicing, and testing, with the expectation that technicians are flexible and willing to assist across related low-voltage scopes as project needs require.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing (single-mode and multi-mode)
  • Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing; interpret and document results
  • Install and maintain fiber infrastructure in commercial buildings and data centers
  • Support additional low-voltage activities as needed, including:
  • Security systems support
  • Cable tray and basket tray installation
  • Vault and pathway work
  • Follow project plans, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with project managers, leads, and field teams to meet deadlines
Required Qualifications
  • 1–2+ years of hands-on fiber splicing experience
  • Fiber splicing certification required
    , such as:
  • ETA International Fiber Optics Installer (FOI/FOA)
  • Experience in commercial construction and/or data center environments
  • Strong understanding of fiber testing equipment and documentation
  • Willingness to assist outside of fiber scope when projects require “all hands on deck”
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally within DFW
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or mission-critical/data center projects
  • Knowledge of structured cabling and low-voltage systems
