Job Overview

C. Miller Drilling is seeking experienced and highly skilled Senior Water Well Drillers to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will lead drilling operations directly from the rig floor, supervising Derrickmen and Floormen while operating the machinery that performs the drilling process. As the primary person responsible for executing the drilling plan, you'll use your expertise to keep operations safe, efficient, and productive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all floor operations related to water well drilling on active job sites.
  • Operate drill rig controls including levers, switches, brakes, and hydraulics from the rig floor control console.
  • Supervise Derrickmen and Floormen to ensure safety, productivity, and compliance with operational standards.
  • Manage and perform operation of mud recycling systems.
  • Manage & maintain mud weight, viscosity & filtrate per Tool Pusher's specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entries in the 'Drill Log,' recording all critical operational data per tour.
  • Manage & perform mechanical repairs to drill rig and related equipment.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the Draw Works, Drill Floor, cables, Swivel, Kelly, Kelly Bushing, Rotary Table and safety equipment.
  • Train and supervise Floor hands in inspection tasks in accordance with standards established by the Drilling Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate closely with the Tool Pusher for direction, scheduling, and quality assurance.
  • Support rig mobilization, rig‑up, and rig‑down operations as needed.
  • Ensure jobsite safety standards are followed consistently.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Driller in municipal or commercial water well drilling operations.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience on the rig floor.
  • Strong mechanical experience and expertise required.
  • Strong understanding of rotary drilling systems and floor mechanics.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy equipment as required.
  • No formal licenses or certifications required, but internal certification to

    C. Miller Drilling standards will be provided.

Schedule
  • Full‑Time - Monday through Friday
  • Overtime may be required based on project demands

This is a travel-based field role. You will report to active drill sites across various regions as assigned.
