Overview of the Role
We’re looking for a skilled, hands‑on, and detail‑oriented Field Technician, Cabling to join our Operations Team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling systems that support hospitality technology environments. You’ll work on‑site at customer locations nationwide, ensuring cabling infrastructure is installed safely, efficiently, and to Groove’s quality standards—forming the backbone for reliable guest‑facing technology.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Install, route, and secure structured cabling systems, including Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, coax, and related low‑voltage cabling
- Terminate, label, and test cables according to industry standards and project specifications
- Perform cable pathway work, including ladder racks, J‑hooks, conduit, and surface raceway
- Troubleshoot cabling issues using appropriate testing tools to ensure signal integrity and performance
- Read and interpret basic floor plans, riser diagrams, and cabling schematics
- Partner closely with Technician Leads and fellow technicians to complete projects on time and to scope
- Communicate progress, issues, and changes clearly with internal teams
- Document work accurately for quality control, reporting, and closeout
- Follow all job‑site safety requirements and best practices at all times
- Obtain and maintain required certifications, licenses, and tool/gear training as needed
- Travel extensively across the United States by air and vehicle, depending on project location
- Represent Groove professionally while working independently or as part of a team
Must Haves:
- Positive, energetic attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools, ladders, and lifts
- Comfort working in ceilings, crawl spaces, and construction environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively nationwide
Nice‑to‑Have:
- Experience with structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, coax) and low‑voltage installations
- Experience terminating and testing cables (certifiers, tone testers, fiber testers)
- Background in construction, electrical, or technical installations
- Knowledge of hospitality or commercial environments
- Relevant certifications (BICSI, manufacturer certifications) or willingness to obtain them
- Basic computer skills for documentation and system use
- Compensation starting at $18/hour + DOE, with eligibility for increases upon completion of certifications/licenses
- Daily per diem on travel days
