Department SummaryThe Facilities department oversees all aspects of building maintenance and infrastructure on main campus as well as our Law Center in downtown Dallas‑totalling over 300,000 square‑feet of conditioned space. The department consists of two divisions:
Facilities Operations and Custodial Services. It is our desire to provide excellent customer service to you and hope that you will feel free to call or visit us at any time. The Mission of the Facilities department is to provide a safe, clean, productive, and well‑maintained physical environment for the University Community, by planning and delivering professional services that are based on sustainable and collaborative outcomes that support the mission of the University.
Lead Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting the Facilities Director in scheduling and completing the following tasks. These examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed in positions allocated to this position.
Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in related maintenance/repair field. Substitution of education for experience allowed. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

- Knowledge of and skill in use of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of general maintenance task
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of general maintenance
- Knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and working drawings
- Ability to use basic shop math applications
- Ability to locate and identify problems in appropriate building system or equipment and to plan and execute necessary repairs
