Job SummaryPerforms journey level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems on City-owned property to ensure effective sprinkler system watering of golf courses, park areas, and playing fields.
Essential Functions- Manage, design, permit, and supervise installations; inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain drinking fountains, irrigation systems, and turf/landscaping within Park and Recreation properties.
- Loads and unloads tools, irrigation materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs.
- Performs general technical and preventive maintenance on sprinkler systems such as checking oils, cleaning parts, and making adjustments to ensure the system is maintained in proper operating condition.
- Makes diagnoses of problems when possible or refers to a journey level irrigation worker to provide effective repair of sprinkler systems.
- Performs activities such as digging trenches, driving tractors to pull water tanks, using chainsaws, and weed eaters to assist with irrigation system maintenance.
- Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction.
- Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
- Knowledge of basic principles and practices of installing and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Ability to perform manual labor including use of hand tools such as shovels and pipe wrenches.
- Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
- 3 years installing irrigation or working with landscaping.
Texas Installer License
EducationHigh School Diploma, GED
Salary Range$22.32 - $24.56
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
