Network Technician (260 days)

Responsibilities and
Qualifications:
- Repairing radios: troubleshooting to the component level for Motorola and Kenwood handheld, portable, and mobile radios.
- Troubleshooting repeaters and controllers; repairing police and staff radio communication systems.
- Programming radios: programming of Motorola and Kenwood mobiles and handheld portables.
- Battery maintenance: reconditioning batteries and replacement as needed.
- Ordering, distributing, and maintaining an inventory of parts and equipment; ordering vendor equipment and maintaining accurate inventory.
- Communicating with end users: active listening, following commitments, and proactively updating on status of requests.
- Maintaining Police Dispatch: responsible for emergency off‑hours network support; coordinating and installing police and staff radio communications systems.
- Performing related tasks: troubleshooting and identifying modular components in trunking systems for warranty replacement; inspecting building structure to determine means, materials, and labor for installation; coordinating preventive maintenance on radio towers; designing for RF propagation at new or renovation construction sites.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of basic radio programming software.
- Basic knowledge of DC circuits and schematic component symbols.
- Ability to work at heights over 20 feet.
- Ability to work in stressful environments.
- Experience with computer‑aided dispatch radio solutions.
- Understanding of conventional analog and digital repeater systems and digital trunking systems.
- Ability to install mobile radios in various vehicles.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Ability to solder and desolder micro‑components.
- Knowledge of characteristics and installation of coax and connectors.
- Knowledge of IP‑based radio products and systems.
- Knowledge of P25 Phase 2.
- Understanding of FCC rules and regulations.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on related radio experience and a deep understanding of radio concepts and repair.
