Telecommunication Technician Level 4 - Dallas, TX
Position SummaryAlamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. This position entails working in Central Offices, MSO and/or Data Centers, installing equipment including Adtran, Cisco, Ciena (Ethernet and/or DWDM), Infinera, Fujitsu, Calix, Nokia, Galaxy 4848, Galaxy Millennium Controllers, Vertiv Power Systems, Eltek Power Systems and wet/VRLA Battery replacements. The Level 4 Telecommunication Technician must have extensive Lumen experience, be a self‑starter, possess a safety‑oriented mindset, and travel extensively.
Job Description- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment and systems.
- Provide central office installation services and adhere to quality standards required for Telcordia GR-1275, Lumen 77350/77385, ATT TP-76300/TP-76400, and/or Verizon IP72202 ISS 5-1 Core Standards.
- Write GMOP/DMOP and process all associated paperwork within an EJP required for each job.
- Read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer‑provided work orders.
- Install relay racking, cable racking, fiber ducting, auxiliary framing, and other superstructure elements.
- Install and sew copper and fiber cables using connector types (RJ45/wire wrapping, BNC, LC/SC, etc.).
- Perform lacing, stitching, and sewing.
- Install DC power rectification, batteries, fuse panels, and BDFB/BDCBB.
- Work effectively with engineers, technicians, and customers.
- Verify network and timing connectivity and continuity of various fiber and cable connections.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all equipment, configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Pass pre‑employment screening including background check, drug test, and motor vehicle records pull.
- Ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding environment, and all‑weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50 lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI/DWIs in the past five years.
- Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
- Available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
- Requires visiting customer sites nationwide; travel is required.
- Must work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
- Indoor and outdoor work is based on the contract scope.
- Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may occur.
- Wear PPE in compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Possibility of working outdoors in all weather and terrain; long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
- Physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Must ride in a vehicle for extended periods to travel to and from job sites.
- Work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
- Traverse all job‑site areas, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching.
- Distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi‑colored cabling.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and use judgment on job assignments.
- Work at heights, handle ladders, push and pull equipment.
- Requires extensive travel.
- Lodging provided while working and traveling for the company.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Knowledge of Central Office/MSO/Data Center standards.
- Proficiency in installing ironwork, earthquake bracing, cable racking, and fiber ducting.
- Knowledge of DC power (-48 VDC) & ability to install and perform hot cuts as needed.
- Extensive understanding of hand tools, test equipment, and computer interface with customer products.
- Skills to plan and coordinate high‑risk activity, including identifying equipment, cards, fiber cables, and circuit IDs.
- Ability to map out and run new fibers for integration, fiber rolls, and hot cuts.
