Overview
Interface Systems is seeking an experienced Security Alarm Technician for Dallas, TX. In this position, you will diagnose and resolve application issues while maintaining Fire Alarm, TCP/IP Networks, Video Surveillance, Access Control & Wireless solutions. As a Security Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing and servicing security and video surveillance systems, wireless devices, and cabling. This will also include installing various electronic components and cables including terminating, commissioning, and testing.
Interface equips its technicians with a full suite of high-quality, company‑provided tools to ensure you’re prepared for every job. Standard equipment includes a cordless drill/driver, test monitor, tone generator and probe kit, cable strippers, crimpers, fish tape or rods, voltage tester, punch down tool, specialty wrenches or nut drivers, label maker, PPE (such as safety glasses, gloves, and hard hat), and a company‑issued laptop.
Additional tools may be provided based on specific job requirements or customer contracts. Whether you’re in the field or in a branch‑based role, we make sure you have the right tools to do the job safely and efficiently.
- Install, repair, and maintain Intrusion, Fire, Video Surveillance, Network, and VoIP integrated systems.
- Work in the field with efficient methods to solve service issues.
- Train customers on Interface‑provided systems.
- Maintain acceptable and accurate inventory levels by conducting physical inventory counts.
- Verify and submit all documentation for inventoried items according to company policy.
- Install and terminate network and security cabling.
- Perform fire stopping of various types of cable penetrations.
- Understand, adhere to, and promote OSHA Health & Safety policies.
- Interface with customer contacts on projects and service requests.
- Interface with the end‑user and coordinate with vendors for each project.
- Engage in hands‑on field interaction with customers at the site level.
- Maintain assigned vehicle and tools.
- The position is full‑time and may include rotating on‑call duties.
- High School Diploma or GED;
Vocational/Technical/Business School strongly preferred. - Valid driver’s license.
- NICET Certification is a plus.
- Verifiable field experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents and drawings.
- Solid comprehension of terminology related to the installation and service of telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
- Solid understanding of best practices, engineering, and Federal, State, and local safety standards for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to pass applicable state and federal background checks to become a registered security installer.
- Comfortable using small hand tools and power tools.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Schedule flexibility and willingness to travel overnight.
- Physical demands include finger and wrist dexterity, hand/eye coordination, heavy physical effort, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolds, and working from heights with proper fall protection. Carrying loads up and down stairs.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a proven field technician in the electronic security industry.
