Location: Dallas, TX 75287

Pay: $26-$28 per hour; BOE

Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Status: Temp-to-Hire

Reports To: Water Quality Project Manager

Position Overview

The Environmental Scientist I supports the Environmental Services Division by executing compliance tasks under the guidance of a Project Manager. This role is critical for the 2026 renewal cycle of numerous Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.

You will be responsible for field work throughout Texas, including site evaluations, data collection, and technical plan writing. This position requires a high level of accuracy, excellent customer service, and the ability to coordinate effectively with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Field Execution: Conduct site evaluations, collect stormwater feature data, identify storage tank volumes, and measure secondary containment dimensions.
  • Technical Writing: Interpret technical data to draft and renew SWPPP and SPCC plans using web-based software.
  • Mapping & Data: Coordinate map drafting requests; collect photographic evidence and annotate feature locations on maps.
  • Compliance & Inspections: Perform periodic compliance inspections and maintain an inventory of oil-containing materials.
  • Project Management: Schedule site inspections directly with clients, meet project budgets/schedules, and utilize Excel for project tracking.
  • Independent Judgment: Apply decision‑making skills within the framework of established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge Base: Basic understanding of the Clean Water Act; familiarity with SWPPP and SPCC plans is preferred.

    Skills:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Earth, and the ability to operate geographic/scientific data collection equipment.
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for volume estimation and gather/analyze numerical data effectively.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients, peers, and all levels of the organization.
Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Travel: Willingness to travel overnight and out of town to various industrial facilities and client offices throughout Texas.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work protracted or irregular hours (beyond 40 hours/week) based on client needs.
  • License: Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet company auto insurability requirements.
  • Safety: This is a Safety Sensitive and Security Sensitive position.
