Sales Representative, Sales Manager, Business Development, Outside Sales
Position Summary
Sales of Ready Mix/Concrete in large, complex and highly competitive markets. Build and maintain positive relationships with customers. Work closely with the Area Sales Manager to maximize market penetration, pricing, and customer development.
Assist customers in selecting materials, coordinate with operations on material availability and special product needs.
Responsibilities- Administer and communicate quotations, sales reports, expense accounts, and other sales data.
- Develop new customers and increase the company’s market share and profitability.
- Call on and develop relationships with construction aggregate and cement buyers.
- Increase annual sales and profits by developing new business, expanding markets, and supporting long‑term growth.
- Help develop an annual sales plan using market intelligence.
- Meet targeted tonnages, revenues, and selling prices to achieve profitability.
- Collaborate with dispatch, inside sales, credit, operations, QC, etc., to become the supplier of choice.
- Communicate with operating personnel to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Work with credit personnel on new accounts and accounts receivable.
- Contribute to reliable forecasting with the sales team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales/Marketing, Communications or related field.
- 5+ years sales experience in the concrete/aggregates industry or related field.
- Proven sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Sound knowledge of Ready Mix/Concrete and construction materials.
- Knowledge of aggregates and cement production, including quality control.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
- Teamwork to achieve district, division, and company objectives.
- Self‑disciplined and able to make unsupervised decisions.
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays.
Mostly office work with frequent off‑site customer visits and job sites. Requires work in varied weather conditions and may involve exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust. Work may include early mornings, late afternoons, travel for training, and Saturdays.
