Position Sales Trainee / Merchandiser
OverviewThe Sales Trainee/Merchandiser position is responsible for effectively managing an established sales territory, encompassing selling, servicing, merchandising, administration, and accounts receivable tasks. This role includes achieving sales objectives, executing territory management strategies, promoting current and new products, implementing promotions, conducting in-store tastings, and servicing accounts. It is designed to provide comprehensive training so the trainee will eventually manage their own sales territory.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve sales objectives and meet agreed upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
- Execute territory management strategies, including maintaining routine contact with key decision makers and staying current on market trends.
- Promote current and new products, implement promotions, and conduct in-store tastings.
- Deliver orders, rotate back stock, stock shelves, place PO's, and build displays per standardized merchandising procedures.
- Ensure product is merchandised correctly, rotate stock appropriately, price accurately, and display point‑of‑sale materials.
- Provide pictures of display, cold box, or shelf reset executions upon management request.
- Keep accurate daily and weekly logs of accounts visited.
- Communicate effectively to resolve ordering or shipping needs within the designated territory.
- Arrive for work, appointments, meetings, and other functions on time and as scheduled.
- Maintain reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, and meet company driving record & insurance requirements.
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree may be considered.
- 1 year of warehouse or inventory control experience preferred; forklift certification a plus.
- Ability to lift and carry 40+ pound cases of product.
- Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, able to work independently or in a team structure.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal talents to enhance customer and retailer relationships.
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must download and use the Trip Log app if mileage allowance is received.
