The Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) supports the administration and management of Nursing Services in accordance with physician orders and the comprehensive needs of residents. In partnership with the Director of Nursing, this role is responsible for 24-hour oversight of Nursing Services and ensures that the Nursing Department maintains quality standards of care in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations, policies, and guidelines.
In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director assumes responsibility for clinical operations. This position applies the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act under Registered Nurse licensure.
- Coordinate comprehensive care plans for residents in accordance with physician orders, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
- Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff; monitor implementation and compliance.
- Participate in admission decisions and, when necessary, meet with prospective residents prior to admission.
- Attend and contribute to daily and weekly management meetings to review resident status, census updates, staffing, and resident concerns.
- Ensure delivery of compassionate, high-quality care through appropriate staffing coverage, cleanliness standards, prevention of pressure injuries, and maintenance of optimal resident function.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Current RN or LPN license in the practicing state.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited nursing school required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in long-term care or acute healthcare preferred.
- At least two (2) years of nursing supervisory experience required.
