Work hours:
Full Time, 36 Hours, Days
- Average 400 deliveries per month
- 62 bed Mom/Baby unit
- Lactation provides consults on request, as well as outpatient consults
- Manages breast pump rentals, donor milk to go program and breast pump depot program
- Staffs 2-3 Lactation Consultants per day
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
- BSN preferred
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
- One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred
- IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification within 12 months required
- IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification upon hire highly preferred
- Function as expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff and physicians
- Serve as clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence
- Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes and promote continuity of care
- Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding
- Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
- Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
