RN - Oncology

The RN is a licensed professional who uses the nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery. This role focuses on specific patient populations and health conditions through collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient responses. The RN plays a critical role in ensuring safe transitions through the healthcare encounter while preventing complications or delays.

• Advocate for patients, focusing on their needs, rights, confidentiality, and preferences.
• Provide educational information and training to patients and their families.
• Perform patient assessments and ensure safe medication administration.
• Monitor patients related to cancer care and maintain comprehensive records.
• Educate patients and families about cancer care and prevention.
• Act as a preceptor or trainer to new nursing staff.
• Serve as a Charge Nurse when needed and model oncology nursing best practices.

• Minimum of 24 months of current Oncology experience.
• Experience with EPIC Beacon and Chemotherapy Infusion.
• ONS chemotherapy biotherapy provider certificate.
• Current active Texas or Compact license.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
