Job Summary

The Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center is one of the largest pediatric hematology/oncology programs in the United States built on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to extraordinary care for every patient and family we serve.

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) within the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, you’ll join a multidisciplinary team that includes hematologists, oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals working together across inpatient, procedural, and ambulatory settings. APPs in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders practice at the top of their license, serving as essential members of the care team who bridge advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, family-centered care.


* New Grad Rate $130,000*

Experience and Education

Education

  • Master’s degree in nursing or higher degree with documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization consistent with clinical practice area and patient population OR Master’s degree graduate of a Master’s or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Advanced Practice RN (CPNP-AC or CPNP-PC) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire OR
  • National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C) upon hire and
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire.

Preferred Experience

  • Pediatric hematology provider experience preferred.
  • New grads with prior hematology RN experience and/or who completed a clinical rotation in hematology may be considered.

Job Duties

  • Diagnoses and treats critically ill patients, develops and manages treatment plans, and performs advanced procedures.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients.
  • Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
  • Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
