This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in care and treatment of patients.

Required Experience and Education
  • Education:

    Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience:

    Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by clinic or standard of care
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    RN Licensure as Registered Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas; BASIC LIFE SUPPORT from a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) at hire
Preferred
  • Education:

    Bachelor  Degree in Nursing
  • Experience:

    1 year of clinical experience
Job Duties
  • Delivers nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the medical plan of care utilizing the nursing process to assess, implement, and record patients  responses in the medical record
  • Schedules patients  appointments, tests, and procedures via online system or telephone; reinforces physician instructions in person and by phone
  • Provides patient education and documents patient s response in the medical record
  • Ensures appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment
  • Triages patient phone inquiries according to physician/department protocols and documents actions in the medical records
  • Provides working supervision and delegates tasks to licensed vocational nurses, non-licensed medical staff, or office support personnel
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation
  • Participates in policy and/or procedural changes according to nursing expertise
  • Prepares equipment and assists physicians during physical exams and medical procedures
  • Prepares and administers medications as prescribed by physician
  • Inspects equipment and facilities to ensure patient safety and proper functioning
  • Maintains adequate stock of supplies for the work area
  • Attends and participates in meetings related to clinical activities
  • Core functions may include: direct patient care; care of human-subjects research participants; maintaining, modifying, releasing, or affecting patient records or human-subjects research records
  • Performs other duties as assigned
