Overview
A large tertiary acute care hospital in Dallas, Texas is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Critical Care (Medical ICU) to provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for a high-acuity adult Medical Intensive Care Unit. This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational excellence within a complex critical care environment.
Responsibilities- Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for the Medical ICU
- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care delivery in alignment with critical care standards and organizational goals
- Collaborate with physician leaders and interdisciplinary teams to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency of care
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives within the ICU
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety requirements
- Lead staffing, scheduling, productivity management, and staff development
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on quality outcomes and patient-centered care
- Utilize quality metrics, occurrence reporting, and data-driven insights to improve clinical and operational performance
- Maintain effective communication with leadership, staff, and clinical partners
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care leadership experience in Critical Care
- Preferably 2+ years of ICU leadership experience
- Charge Nurse–only experience will not be considered
- BSN required
- Active Texas RN license or compact RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Preferred:
- MSN or higher degree
- CCRN and/or CNRN certification
- Prior experience in high-acuity or tertiary care ICU settings
- 16-bed Medical ICU
- Leadership of approximately 45 FTEs
- Oversight limited to the Medical ICU
- Reports directly to the Director of Critical Care
