job description:

we are currently seeking a full-time or registered nurse (rn) to join our team. This position qualifies for a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a competitive benefit package.

responsibilities
  • as the rn circulator, you will have responsibility for patient safety by designing, coordinating and delivering care to meet the needs of the surgical patient.
  • performs in depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients.
  • formulates collaborative and individualized plan of care and identifies expected patient outcomes, using the nursing process.
  • implements, evaluates and documents patient care interventions and effectiveness in accordance with care plan.
  • prepare for and adapt procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • ensure all documentation and consents are complete prior to surgery.
  • advocate for each patient’s safety.
  • follow standard policies and procedures for surgical/procedural interventions, adapting for surgeon and anesthesia provider preference.
  • ready and prepared for daily on time case starts; on time shift arrival and work attendance.
  • demonstrate compassion and caring for patients, their family members and surgical team members.
  • demonstrate knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions and side effects; and knowledge of regional anesthetic techniques and moderate sedation.
  • demonstrate knowledge of location, care and operation of surgical equipment/instruments.
  • demonstrate competence in preparing and cleaning or suites before and between cases and after terminal cases, based on patient infection classification.
  • position, prepare skin and prevent electrosurgical events during patient care in the operating room.
  • provide postsurgical patient hand-off report to rn in next unit of care.
  • recognize and respond to emergencies in the operating room suite.
  • available to take emergency call during weekdays and on weekends as assigned.
qualifications
  • graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • minimum requirement is an associate degree in nursing; bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • licensure: current unrestricted texas rn license
  • life support certification: bls through the american heart association
  • cnor preferred
  • critical thinking skills.
  • excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
  • knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
  • clinically proficient in or nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • able to lift, push, pull and stand without difficulty
