Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Nursing program. BSN required.
  • 3 years of RN experience; specialty areas may have increased requirements.
  • Nursing Licensure Compact‑BNE or current Texas license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or ARC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years operating‑room RN experience.
  • Progressive RN leadership experience (lead, charge, supervisor).
  • CNOR certification.
Job Duties
  • Supervise and evaluate patient care provided by unit personnel on a 24‑hour basis; conduct patient rounds and random chart audits.
  • Manage staffing to meet productivity targets; coordinate with Central Staffing Office and adjust assignments per census changes.
  • Model proactive problem‑solving; collaborate with staff to resolve identified issues.
  • Use the chain of command for unresolved or escalating issues; advocate for patients and staff to ensure safe delivery of care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to cover shifts; serve as a role model when providing direct patient care.
  • Provide confidential coaching and counseling to nursing personnel; promote professional growth and participation in unit activities, decisions, and continuing education.
  • Ensure accurate event reporting through RL Solutions; investigate and facilitate follow‑up on high‑risk incidents.
  • Participate in routine and special patient care conferences; work with the Manager and other disciplines to streamline OR efficiency and meet targets.
  • Collect and maintain performance records; support annual performance reviews and orientation evaluations.
  • Maintain Kronos records daily; monitor trends requiring intervention.
  • Assume responsibility for inventory control of equipment and supplies; facilitate timely return of borrowed equipment.
  • Lead or assist staff meetings and special projects; develop, implement, and evaluate performance improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians on new initiatives, staffing, equipment, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate continuous performance improvement aligned with annual hospital targets.
  • Meet or exceed financial goals of the department; core functions include patient interaction, research participant care, and records maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
