Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a SSN (assoc) - CHED. This cohort‑specific role is for NYU Langone Health Cobble Hill and Perelman Emergency Departments for candidates possessing an Associates degree in Nursing and one to two years of nursing experience. Conditions of continued employment include the expectation for enrollment in an accredited Baccalaureate Nursing program upon tuition reimbursement eligibility with a goal of degree completion within 24 months.
Duties include the ability to perform patient care responsibilities with emphasis on decision‑making related to the steps in the nursing process to include assessment, diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provide competent, safe and compassionate care based on established NYULH Patient Care and Nursing Standards. As a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, formulate the initial plan of care with the provider (physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner) and collaborate with the healthcare team to implement a comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care to achieve expected outcomes;
utilize principles of assignment and delegation consistent with the NY State Nurse Practice Act.
Collects, assesses and documents patient healthcare data. Involves patient/family and interdisciplinary team to identify a plan of care and outcomes that are realistic and measurable. Prioritize care based upon data collected. Documents assessment and reassessment in medical records.
- Demonstrates a solid foundation and understanding of organizational goals as outlined within the quality and safety performance improvement plan (QSPIP), nurse sensitive quality indicators, and ED Core Metrics.
- Attends unit practice councils (UPC) and utilizes the practice council structure to critically appraise and influence practice (Include supportive evidence).
- Adheres to patient care and nursing standards in care delivery, and uses clinical practice guidelines (CPG).
- Engages in self‑assessment and peer review; utilizes resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development in clinical practice.
- Serves as a support and resource for nursing staff and students.
- Complies with annual education and mandatory/regulatory requirements (Include learning transcript and supportive documentation).
- Exhibits appropriate judgment in delegated activities. Demonstrates ability to differentiate those activities which are in scope of professional nursing practice, and those that may be delegated to ancillary staff.
- Complies with unit‑based and organization professional standards, New York State Nurse Practice Act and regulations of relevant outside agencies, e.g., NY State Department of Health, The Joint Commission, regulatory requirements, etc.
