Registered Nurse - General Surgery - Telemetry - Nights

Methodist Health System invites applicants for this night shift position.

Schedule
  • 12‑hour shifts, three nights per week.
  • Alternate weekend days.
  • Shift hours: 7 pm – 7 am.

Job Purpose
  • Provide highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients, using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Direct and supervise other team members, collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver appropriate care per unit standards.
  • Support Methodist Health System’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Additional certifications as required by the department.
Professional Experience & Skills
  • Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards.
  • Minimum 12 months RN experience or completion of a Nurse Residency Program.
  • Ability to work with confidential material.

Roles & Duties
  • Adhere to general hospital standards promoting a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal skills, and team building.
  • Assume responsibility for nursing components of patient/family/ significant-other education processes.
  • Communicate with team, co‑workers, patients, and families; assess understanding.
  • Create and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
  • Provide safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
  • Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth.
  • Utilize the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Physical Factors: 20% standing stationary, 60% standing/moving, 15% sitting, 2% climbing, 20% bending, 2% kneeling, 1% crawling, 30% reaching, 90% handling, 90% talking.

  • Carrying: 50% up to 10 lbs, 30% 10‑20 lbs, 10‑30% 20‑50 lbs, 10% 50‑100 lbs.
  • Lifting: 45% up to 10 lbs, 30% 10‑20 lbs, 10‑30% 20‑50 lbs, 10% 50‑100 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: 10% up to 10 lbs, 10% 10‑20 lbs, 30% 20‑50 lbs, 10% 50‑100 lbs, 10% 100+ lbs.
