Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing OB/GYN staff. This is a full‑time position that can be tailored to a part‑time position if desired. You will provide direct patient care, discuss patient symptoms and concerns, and perform thorough examinations to diagnose their medical problem and prescribe medication and create a treatment plan if necessary.

When required, you will collaborate with our physicians to treat more advanced illnesses or conditions. A current state license to practice in Texas is required. At least two years of medical experience is preferred. The candidate should be able to work independently from the physician and balance their schedule, aiding the physician with patient calls and patient portal messages.

Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate new patient consultation and health history review.
  • Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients.
  • Order and administer tests including bloodwork.
  • Review and interpret test results to diagnose health problems.
  • Recommend further treatment options or future appointments if needed.
  • Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing care to obstetric patients.
  • Ensure patient records are kept up to date including test results, immunizations, condition changes, etc.
  • Assist with the surgery scheduling processes.
Nurse Practitioner Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing.
  • Current state nurse practitioner license.
  • Active Texas DEA.
  • Two years of nursing experience (Obstetrics and Gynecology).
  • Understands HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Able to operate as part of a team and alongside physicians.
  • Proficient in EHR medical charting system and computer‑based data management programs.
  • Practice is currently in Athenahealth.
