Job Description Overview
A specialized cardiovascular and spine hospital in the Dallas–Fort Worth area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Critical Care – CVICU to support a growing cardiovascular intensive care program
. This is a newly created leadership role driven by unit expansion and increased patient volume.
The Nurse Manager will partner with an existing manager to co-lead the CVICU, providing focused leadership oversight, staff development, and operational excellence in a high-acuity environment that includes ECMO services
.
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate clinical and operational services within the CVICU
Provide leadership oversight for critical care nursing staff and ECMO team members
Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary leaders to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care
Maintain compliance with professional nursing standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
Support staffing, scheduling, and resource management to meet patient acuity and census demands
Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and process improvements to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency
Maintain clear, effective communication across leadership, clinical teams, and support departments
Support unit growth, onboarding, and staff engagement during expansion
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Active RN license (Texas or compact license)
Minimum 4 years of recent (within the last year) acute care ICU/CVICU leadership experience
Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
Current ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
Preferred:
Master’s degree
CCRN and/or CNRN certification
Experience supporting ECMO programs
Background in high-acuity cardiovascular critical care environments
CVICU expansion with two Nurse Managers supporting the department
28-bed CVICU (expanded from 15 beds)
High-volume unit expected to operate at capacity
Oversight of approximately 40 FTEs (73 total staff shared across two managers)
Dedicated ECMO services
Reports to the Director of Critical Care & Med/Surg
