Program Eligibility
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
As the Vascular Access Registered Nurse (RN) you will execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. You will have advanced knowledge and skills in assessing, inserting, caring for, and managing vascular access devices, including peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), midlines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC). You will have advanced knowledge to maintain Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD).
You will collaborate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. You will provide peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. You will support colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. You will foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals.
You will evaluate outcomes of evidence‑based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. You will be responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. You will have vast experience and knowledge with the situations in which you are ultimately expected to perform, skillfully integrating theoretical concepts, strong critical‑thinking skills, and exhibiting an expert technically skilled practice.
