Veterinary Eye Institute (VEI) is a leading, veterinarian‑owned network of stand‑alone ophthalmology practices. We provide advanced medical treatments for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, uveitis, ulcers, accidental blindness, and more. Join our collaborative and driven clinical team.

What you’ll do:
  • Prioritize caseload and patient care; prepare and check charts for appropriate paperwork.
  • Obtain vitals and perform ocular testing.
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including tonometry, corneal stains, Schirmer tear testing, chemical ablations, and TPRs.
  • Prepare, call in, or create written prescriptions and other documentation.
  • Administer injections and fluids, calculate dosages, and monitor anesthesia (place equipment, evaluate values, and manually monitor patients).
  • Manage pre‑ and post‑surgical patient care and recovery.
  • Maintain the surgical OR, including cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, and organizing equipment and instruments.
  • Perform client callbacks and support related tasks.
  • Participate in rotational weekly call shifts and support the Dallas location as required.
Who are you:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior veterinary experience; ophthalmology experience desired.
  • Proficiency in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
  • Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and stay on task for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Critical thinking skills with anticipation of inter‑ and intra‑departmental needs.
  • Eager to learn more about diseases and medication specific to ophthalmology.
