The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be working in a position primarily responsible for caring for pediatric patients with hematologic, oncologic, immunologic, or other diagnosis requiring stem cell transplant. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, consultation, and health promotion and care coordination for patients and families throughout the hospital system. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking and flexibility.

Required
Education- Master's degree in nursing or Higher degree and Documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
OR - Master's degree graduate of a Master's or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Advanced Practice RN (
CPNP-AC
) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
OR - National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (
PA-C) upon hire.
AND - Current Basic Life Support (
BLS
), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (
PALS
) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire.
- Pediatric stem cell transplant as a provider preferred.
- New grads with previous oncology or stem cell transplant RN experienced and/or who completed a clinical rotation in oncology/stem cell transplant may be considered.
- Diagnoses and treats critically ill patients, develops and manages treatment plans, and performs advanced procedures.
- Develops and implements treatment plans for patients.
- Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
- Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
