SummaryThis position will be responsible for a 24‑hour, seven‑day/a‑week pet food production plant. The role will lead all maintenance operations of the plant’s production lines and will also be involved in plant start‑up, equipment specification, and commissioning activities during the initial build and subsequent expansions.
Job Description- Must have a minimum of 8 years maintenance management/supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to steer the maintenance team toward a world‑class reliability organization and to establish and maintain strong predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to work with other operations teams to engage in optimal equipment reliability strategies, including operator care initiatives.
- Strong knowledge and skills within maintenance, especially electrical systems and controls:
- Control systems programming (Allen‑Bradley PLCs, SLC
500, Control Logix, Ethernet/IP, Device Net, Siemens, Omron). - Writing and developing programs, logic, and other functions to diagnose and resolve manufacturing equipment issues.
- Hands‑on electrical and control troubleshooting.
- HMIs.
- Electrical schematics.
- AutoCAD.
- Strong technical knowledge and skills of:
- Manufacturing/production/distribution equipment, machinery, and facilities.
- Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and pumping systems.
- 4‑year degree in engineering or related field strongly desired.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Plant start‑up experience strongly desired.
- Direct all maintenance activities including preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance, and repairs.
- Support all plant build and expansion processes.
- Implement and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) throughout the facility.
- Plan short‑term and long‑term maintenance activities while working with internal and external customers.
- Develop procedures to improve uptime on all manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and oversee distribution of maintenance documentation.
- Drive and support continuous improvement programs such as RCA and 5S.
- Coordinate special projects as assigned by the manager.
- Initiate projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Assist in monitoring all work performed by outside contractors.
- Maintain a professional, courteous manner with all visitors, vendors, contractors, and employees.
- Work within established budget and expense limits.
- Facilitate employee development, training, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain regular communication with shift supervisors and maintenance mechanics regarding daily and ongoing maintenance issues.
- Conduct regular performance reviews based on job descriptions to assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of maintenance supervisors and mechanics.
- Ensure the plant maintains a safe working environment and complies with environmental regulations.
- Follow established company policies and the Employee Handbook.
- Assure food safety standards with regard to GMPs and the HACCP plan are observed by all employees.
