We are currently recruiting for the position of Sanitation Team Lead.
The Sanitation Team Lead is responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing daily sanitation activities within a warehouse in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Sanitation Charter. This role provides hands-on leadership, ensures all sanitation tasks are completed to standard and on schedule, supports audit readiness, and drives continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Lead, train, and coach sanitation employees to ensure proper cleaning methods, chemical use, and GMP compliance.
- Assign and monitor daily sanitation tasks according to the Sanitation Charter and established cleaning frequencies.
- Provide real-time feedback to maintain high sanitation standards and performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for sanitation activities during assigned shifts.
- Oversee and perform activities in all facility areas, including but not limited to:
- Warehouse floors, walls, drains, doors, and high-touch surfaces
- Storage racks, shelving, and material handling equipment
- Dock areas, dock levelers, seals, and dock doors
- Restrooms, locker rooms, and handwashing stations
- Lunchrooms, break areas, vending areas, and water stations
- Offices, conference rooms, and common areas
- Verify tasks are completed correctly, at required frequencies, and documented accurately.
- Ensure sanitation activities prevent cross-contamination between food, packaging, allergens, and non-food areas.
- Promote clean-as-you-go practices throughout shifts.
- Enforce compliance with the Sanitation Charter, GMPs, and internal food safety programs.
- Use only approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals in accordance with:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Chemical labels and dilution requirements
- Food-grade sanitation procedures
- Review sanitation logs, checklists, and records for accuracy and completeness.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and third-party inspections by maintaining sanitation readiness.
- Complete all sanitation documentation accurately, including logs, checklists, and pre-operational/operational cleaning records.
- Safely operate sanitation equipment, such as floor scrubbers and sweepers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to follow written sanitation procedures, cleaning instructions, and food safety policies.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
- Experience in sanitation, janitorial, or facility cleaning, preferably in a warehouse or food-grade environment.
- Demonstrated leadership or team lead experience.
- Knowledge of GMPs and sanitation best practices.
- Ability to read, follow, and enforce sanitation procedures and schedules.
- Competence in completing and reviewing sanitation documentation accurately.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, and perform other tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work 8-hour shifts with potential for overtime.
