We are a rapidly growing family-owned business that provides premium temporary surface protection in the US to the construction industry. We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to work in our Head Office and Distribution Center in Northwest Dallas.
Position SummaryThe Plastics Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring plastic extrusion machines to produce high-quality plastic products according to production schedules and specifications. This role ensures that materials, equipment, and processes are managed efficiently to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation- Set up extrusion machines according to production orders, including dies, screws, and tooling.
- Start, monitor, and adjust machine settings to maintain proper material flow, temperature, pressure, and speed.
- Operate auxiliary equipment such as dryers, feeders, and cooling systems.
- Train new and existing employees on operational procedures and safety policies.
- Maintain accurate shift records including production reports, downtime, and material usage.
- Communicate effectively with other shift supervisors and management to ensure smooth shift transitions and resolve production issues.
- Inspect extruded products for consistency in dimensions, color, surface finish, and overall quality.
- Perform regular measurements and document results per quality control procedures.
- Identify and correct process deviations to minimize scrap and downtime.
- Ensure accurate material identification and proper inventory tracking.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of extrusion equipment and work areas.
- Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and collaborate with maintenance or engineering teams to resolve them.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Adhere to company policies, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
- Strong knowledge of extrusion equipment, materials, and processes.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plastic extrusion or a similar manufacturing environment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficient with production tracking software and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, or overtime as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in hot or noisy environments.
- May require rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime depending on production needs.
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to moving machinery, hot surfaces, and plastic resins.
- Emphasis on teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
