Position Profile

The SA - Digital Automation Systems Operator works within designated Service Advantage Partner locations as the on‑site Systems Operator. Operates and supports a variety of Partner sold equipment at customer locations, generally within a specific geographic area. The Digital Automation Systems Operator will have the ability to operate Modular Control Systems, Partner Structure, Client systems, manage priorities and performance of automation systems in all daily activities.

Demonstrates technical expertise and follows Partner agreed Standard Operating Procedures. Works with the Partner Support team to proactively identify issues impacting operations and system performance. The overall job function is to maximize automation systems' operational output and efficiency and provide expert support.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides front‑line operational support of client automation, robotic, 3D printing, workstation, and technology systems.
  • Operates automated systems, software‑based control systems, electrical and mechanical systems, and structures.
  • Utilizes hands‑on support with an electro‑mechanical aptitude and familiarity with Linux and command line to support client systems and products.
  • Communicates directly with client vendor partners at partner level.
  • Supports client key performance indicators, achieves maximum system uptime and overall client satisfaction.
  • Performs system software updates and maintenance per recommended client technical instruction.
  • Troubleshoots and remediates issues to maintain high‑level system performance.
  • Collects and analyzes data, applies a systematic approach to reach conclusions and make appropriate decisions.
  • Performs diagnostics, installation, mapping, induction, removal, configuration testing, and commissioning of the client’s automation system.
  • Demonstrates required digital competencies for assigned products and level assignments.
  • Completes technical training on client systems as assigned.
  • Reviews all technical information pertaining to supported systems and products.
  • Serves as a positive influence and champion within the team/organization.
  • Proactively seeks ways for process and operational excellence.
  • Performs other duties related to Partner Support as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or 4‑year apprenticeship or equivalent experience or training in Robotics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical fields.
  • Professional appearance and behavior, serving as a role model.
  • Experience and proficiency in:
    Automated systems and software‑based controls;
    Electrical and electronic principles;
    Technical skills including familiarity with Linux, Java, XML, SQL, and database administration;
    PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs;
    Industrial PC literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree from a vocational school or college with focus in Robotics, Mechanical or Electronics fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and prioritize many different projects and workloads.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physical dexterity and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with peers, management, contractors, and vendors.
  • High self‑motivation, customer‑centric focus, and team‑success orientation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent working knowledge of electro‑mechanical devices, automation systems, and technology applications.
  • Expert knowledge of assigned client automation systems.
  • Methodical approach to problem resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to follow up for issue closure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written technical information.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands
  • Typical work in a warehouse environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise ranges.
  • Variable shifts and overtime as required.
  • Regular use of laptop, software, and client test equipment.
  • May be required to move objects on wheels up to 400 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
