Position Summary McCarthy is seeking a Design Integration Manager to join the regional Design Integration (DI) department in the Dallas business unit. Reporting to the regional Senior Design Integration Director, the Manager will apply their technical expertise to oversee planning, coordination, facilitation and implementation of DI activities such as team alignment and collaboration procedures, design schedule management, design alignment and issue management, and design-build/design-assist contract management.

DI also supports the business development, preconstruction and operations teams to ensure full team integration and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Alignment

  • Assist with project startup activities.
  • Develop and maintain project organizational charts, roles & responsibilities matrixes, and decision‑making workflows.
  • Participate in teaming and partnering meetings.
  • Lead kickoff meetings and weekly internal and external coordination meetings.
  • Establish collaboration procedures with the owner and design team.
  • Lead project team alignment effort during transition from design phase to construction.
  • Manage and develop other team members.
Design Phase Planning & Schedule Management
  • Collaboratively develop integrated project schedules including activities for design, preconstruction, permitting, procurement, construction, activation, and closeout.
  • Lead phase pull planning sessions.
  • Lead weekly pull plan updates.
Design Alignment
  • Collaboratively develop design deliverables plan with owner, designer, preconstruction and construction teams.
  • Lead design review process to ensure design in aligned with owner’s project requirements, design intent that is clear and coordinated, budget, and plan for construction (schedule, quality, safety, etc.).
  • Lead design issue management.
Design Risk Mitigation
  • Assist with designer contracting process.
  • Manage design-build and design-assist trade partners.
  • Coordinate design scopes of service, including design-build, design-assist, and delegated design.
Business Development
  • Work with Business Development team to develop and maintain any potential and existing client‑business relationships.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s services, capabilities, business strategy, and knowledge of their local/national competition.
  • Assist in developing creative solutions for existing clients, as well as for new opportunities.
  • Actively participate in pursuits including proposal development and interviews, as needed.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations, including the delivery of strategic presentations and board representation, as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in design and/or construction.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in engineering/consulting or estimating/preconstruction.
  • Familiarity with collaborative delivery (design-build, CMAR, etc.).
  • Proficient in interpreting and understanding technical memoranda, specifications, drawings, process flow diagrams, and other project-related documentation.
  • Ability to supervise, interface and develop all levels of personnel.
  • This role involves travel up to 25% of the time.
