Responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in all areas of the business, with a primary emphasis on driving sales performance, revenue growth, and market development. This position supports profit and loss responsibility while providing secondary oversight of branch operations, including personnel management and coordination between store branches and headquarters. The Assistant Sales and Operations Manager plays a key role in the financial success of the facility, as each branch is self-sustaining and engaged in selling, renting, and providing parts and services within its respective market.
AssistantSales & Operations Manager Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the Kirby-Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Assists in overseeing Sales, Rentals, Parts, and Service Departments, aiding in the execution of business initiatives and ensuring alignment with branch goals
- Helps review and approve financial transactions such as invoices and purchase orders. Assists in implementing financial controls to ensure the branch operates within budgetary constraints
- Aids in the preparation of branch reports, including financial forecasts, budgetary reports, and analyses of operational activities, to support strategic planning and accountability
- Assists in market segmentation and analysis to identify potential products or services. Supports communication strategies to promote branch growth
- Collaborates in managing all branch personnel matters, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, to ensure a competent and motivated workforce
- Provides support in coaching, teaching, and mentoring staff across all departments, contributing to the development of a skilled and efficient team
- Assists in championing customer satisfaction initiatives across departments, ensuring high standards of service and addressing customer feedback proactively
- Supports the management of branch safety programs, including compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations, and coordinates safety training and audits
- Assists in monitoring equipment inventory levels and rental rates, contributing to the analysis and justification for new equipment acquisitions
- Facilitates communication and coordination between departments to enhance productivity and operational efficiency
- Aids in the implementation of corporate policies and initiatives within the branch, ensuring compliance and alignment with company-wide goals
- Works closely with all departments to ensure the delivery of quality customer service and addresses any service issues promptly
- Assists in the development and training of the Sales team, ensuring effective customer outreach and follow-up strategies are in place
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Branch Sales and Operations Manager, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the branch’s overall success
- Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- Three (3) years of successful business management experience with profit and loss responsibility; understanding of business accounting principles and budget preparation
- Five (5) years of experience, preferably in the heavy equipment industry, with working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor relations and proven management experience leading, directing, and supporting people
