Controller
Dallas, TX – hybrid, 3 days onsite

Compensation: $140-155K + Bonus

One of Vaco’s fast-growing private equity–backed partners is looking to onboard a Controller for their Dallas office. This role will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function, lead a team of ~10 (mix of onshore and offshore shared services), and play a critical role in building and streamlining processes as the company continues its rapid growth (20% YOY with recent acquisitions).

This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the CFO of the parent company, with close interaction with the CEO. The company offers a “no red tape” environment where you can make a real impact, gain exposure to private equity, and grow into broader finance responsibilities with mentorship from leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, month/quarter/year-end close, and sales tax.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Build, document, and improve accounting processes, SOPs, and internal controls.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, driving accountability and upskilling talent.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support acquisitions, integration, and overall business growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s preferred (not required).
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in small to mid-size companies ($30M–$100M revenue) required; inventory-related industry experience a plus.
  • Exposure to private equity–backed environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and develop SOPs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to motivate and mentor teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, adaptability, and organizational skills.

Vaco is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
