Facilities Assistant

Overview

Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for women and children who are victims of family violence. Since 1985 Genesis has been providing safety, shelter, crisis intervention, ongoing counseling and advocacy for women and children at both residential and non-residential locations. Genesis continues to be a community leader in providing training and education on issues surrounding intimate partner and gender-based violence.

• Complete maintenance work orders as assigned.
• Assist Facilities Manager with basic repair tasks such as cleaning duties (floor and furniture cleaning; change light bulbs and HVAC filters as needed).
• Maintain building and grounds, including entryway, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas, clean and free of trash and debris.
• Act as Genesis representative for any onsite vendor contact for repairs.
• Ensure tools and equipment are used in a proper and safe manner and maintained properly.
• Ensure that all work spaces and storage areas are clean and organized.
• Monitor calendar and assist with set-up and breakdown of events, meetings, and activities held within the agency.
• Complete tasks that may require driving to and from other locations including but not limited to other Genesis locations, retail locations or third party sites.
• Assist with the maintenance of the MSDS logs including interpreting and updating MSDS logs as required.

• High School degree or GED
• Previous experience with facilities strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of proper maintenance techniques, usage of equipment and chemicals including interpreting and scheduling for MSDS logs.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
• Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs on a regular basis
  • Continuous bending, lifting, and overhead movement
  • Ability to work in all-weather environments
• Must possess a valid driver s license, clean driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
• Position may require on-call availability for after-hours maintenance needs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
