General Counsel

Overview

A Dallas-based organization is seeking an experienced in-house attorney to serve as General Counsel, leading all legal, regulatory, risk, and compliance matters. This is a highly visible role partnering closely with executive leadership and the Board. As the sole in-house attorney, you will be both strategic and hands-on, protecting the business, managing risk, and supporting growth across North America.

• Advise the CEO, executive team, and Board on legal, governance, and risk matters
• Oversee commercial contracting, including customer, vendor, and real estate agreements
• Lead enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, and insurance strategy
• Partner with HR on employment law matters, investigations, executive agreements, and policies across U.S. and Canadian operations
• Support M&A, divestitures, and other strategic transactions
• Manage litigation and claims in coordination with outside counsel

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar license
• 15–20 years of combined law firm and in-house experience
• Strong experience advising senior leadership in complex, regulated environments
• Industry experience in construction, industrial services, energy, manufacturing, or similar field-based operations is required
• Experience working with private equity ownership is a plus
