Construction Attorney

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of construction contracts and construction dispute practice
• Review and negotiate construction-related contracts
• Represent clients on construction-related disputes
• Prepare and review documents, pleadings, briefs, contracts, agreements, etc.
• Respond to and manage written discovery
• Prepare pleadings/motions in state and federal court
• Appear in court hearings on behalf of the clients
• Take and defend depositions
• Conduct legal research and writing
• Prioritize and manage case load and deadlines (both internal and external)
• Exercise good judgment and initiative when advising clients
• Reason logically and consider alternative solutions when addressing ad hoc problems and unexpected issues
• Quickly learn and adapt to new information, developments, project specifics, and client needs
• Accurately track time spent attending to client needs
• Adhere to Firm’s Core Values

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience within the area of construction law
• Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Exceptional analytical, research, and writing skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Stellar interpersonal and active listening skills
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels
• Exceptional time management, follow-through, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Experience using legal software and tools, including Westlaw/Practical Law, iManage, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
