Position Summary This position primarily supports Arch Insurance Group’s Construction Specialty Products business unit by assisting underwriting in risk prequalification, assessment and selection; identifying/guiding customer service needs and developing appropriate service plans; managing agreed upon account activities, expenses and relationships; monitoring and maintaining risk control; and developing/delivering risk control information that assists Underwriting and clients in understanding, evaluating and controlling exposures.
Responsibilities- Risk Selection The primary function is to support the placement of profitable insurance. Specific activities include:
- Collaborate with Underwriting to review risk submissions to ensure adequate information for leading and completing a meaningful Operational risk evaluation based on contemplated program coverages.
- Lead standardized insured evaluation from an operational risk and subcontracting perspective for each client/prospect, including evaluation of QAQC program, scheduling methodology, software (as applicable), and project management consistency as well as class of risk, geographical location, nature of occupancy, etc.
- Identify specific accidents/claims representing atypical and typical occurrences; respond to underwriter questions and provide support on operational processes and emerging issues.
- Support account profitability by identifying appropriate risk control services, activities, and/or interventions; support account acquisition through general marketing and account-specific presentations; provide pre-renewal monitoring and feedback to underwriter; differentiate Arch Risk Control Solutions via strategic risk management philosophy.
- Customer Service
- Respond to customer service requests, meet agreed-upon needs and build relationships to support account retention.
- Act as a technical resource for client best practices and inquiries.
- Coordinate and perform jobsite walks and provide feedback; maintain touchpoints with the insured’s operational team as account stewardship.
- Negotiate service specifications or customer service needs with the producer and/or account to develop service proposals and pricing for inclusion in underwriter proposals; investigate and manage potential vendor relationships as needed.
- Ongoing Account Management
- Manage account relationships to meet or exceed expectations; evaluate client book to develop baselines; serve as internal expert for underwriting on construction topics; continually interface with underwriting on processes and procedures.
- Provide operational feedback on referrals underwriting is reviewing; stay informed on industry trends and provide updates to underwriting; build trusted advisor relationships with clients, producers, underwriters and team partners.
- Monitor assigned account risk control activities to ensure service and financial outcomes meet agreed criteria; liaison with Arch claims and TPAs; monitor significant claims activity and participate in claim reviews when appropriate.
- Additive Services
- Facilitate client group meetings; execute projects to improve internal processes or drive strategy; partner with underwriting on innovative training for insureds.
- Communications
- Represent Arch Risk Control Solutions in industry/trade group presentations, client meetings and written documentation; prepare technical information sheets for internal/external use on current topics of interest.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Discipline or equivalent experience. - Experience:
8+ years in construction management and/or Risk Control/Risk Management with broad industry knowledge; familiarity with operational risk management, Quality Assurance/Control, subcontractor prequalification; licenses/certifications such as PE valued but not required.
