Senior Product Analyst - Insurance

Upland Capital Group, Inc. is an AM Best rated “A-” VIII specialty property/casualty insurer headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Through its wholly owned insurance carrier, Upland Specialty Insurance Company, the company markets, underwrites and services specialty insurance products in select markets to include excess transportation, construction casualty, excess casualty, primary general liability, excess public entity, professional liability errors and omissions, excess cyber liability as well as product recall.

We focus on “old school” underwriting as a craft, add “new school” analytics and technology, and encourage a gritty, growth mindset among people called “we entrepreneurs.”

Within our Risk, Analytics, and Data (RA&D) team, we focus on Actuarial, Data Science, Data and Model Engineering, and Enterprise Risk Management functions. Our vision is to build highly automated and efficient processes to build, test, and deploy our models and products for enhancing actuarial, underwriting, and claim insights with timely and relevant data-driven analytics and technology. We look to create solutions requiring creative problem solving and close collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, not limited by a ‘one size fits all’ mindset.

This vision requires a high level of organization and collaboration to ensure our goals and objectives are met.

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are looking for a Senior Product Analyst to join our Risk, Analytics and Data (RAD) team to support data, analytics, and technology initiatives involving high levels of collaboration across the organization.

This role will report to the Director, Analytics Product Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive Projects Forward
    • Jump into diverse analytical projects and get them moving quickly, even in unfamiliar domains
    • Build relationships across teams rapidly and coordinate effectively without existing networks
    • Identify gaps in projects and step in to fill them—whether that's ad hoc analysis, process design, or technical review
    • Support AI and machine learning initiatives, including workflow integration and practical implementation and have basic understanding or exposure to AI tools, models, and engineering
  • Analytical Problem-Solving
    • Conduct deep analytical work when needed—you should be comfortable getting into the weeds
    • Review technical implementations for accuracy and business alignment
    • Develop ad hoc and routine analytical solutions in collaboration with technical teams
    • Work across multiple analytical domains: pricing, claims, modeling, data engineering, and more
  • Lead Implementation & Coordination
    • Take ownership of implementing analytical models and data science projects across the organization
    • Coordinate with actuaries, data scientists, product managers, and engineers to bring complex initiatives to life
    • Bridge technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring everyone speaks the same language
    • Monitor data flows and build systems to ensure implementations are accurate and sustainable
  • Support the execution of other various department projects and strategies when needed
Who You Are:
  • Analytical Foundation
    • You started your career in a deep analytical role (e.g., actuarial, modeling, data science, quantitative research)
    • You may have pivoted from a technical specialty but retained that analytical rigor
  • Dynamic & Adaptable
    • You thrive when juggling multiple projects across different domains
    • You learn new concepts and technologies quickly (self-taught skills are a plus)
    • You're comfortable with ambiguity and can build structure where it doesn't exist
    • You've worked on a variety of analytical projects that demonstrate your ability to pivot quickly
  • Collaborative & Effective
    • You can coordinate across diverse teams and get things done without needing to know everyone already
    • You build relationships quickly and know how to influence without authority
    • You understand business objectives and can translate between technical and business language
    • You're interested in implementation, not just analysis, you want to see projects through to impact
  • Technically Capable
    • You…
