Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Software Engineer to serve as the onshore technical lead for a high-visibility telecom and contact center modernization initiative. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, partnering closely with product leadership and coordinating daily with an offshore engineering team.
The primary objective is to accelerate the migration from a legacy contact center platform to a modern cloud-based solution, enabling new two-way SMS and converged communications capabilities under aggressive delivery timelines.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys solving complex integration challenges, and can lead without slowing momentum.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the hands-on technical lead for a fast-paced telecom modernization program
- Drive development across frontend, backend, and API layers with strong Dev Ops awareness
- Provide technical leadership and unblock offshore engineers without heavy hand holding
- Partner with Product and Agile leadership to iterate quickly and deliver incremental value
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex, production-impacting issues as they arise
- Ensure engineering execution supports — not delays — program milestones
- Support integration of a modern contact center platform with downstream and legacy systems, including mainframe-based environments
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and operational readiness
Technical Environment
- Frontend: Angular 17, Type Script
- Cloud: AWS-native stack
- Telecom / Contact Center: Cloud-based CX platform, IVR flows, converged communications
- Data: Legacy data routing to support transitional architectures
- Dev Ops: CI/CD awareness, environment readiness, operational support
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with full stack ownership
- Strong, hands-on Type Script experience across frontend and backend development
- Proven experience leading distributed and offshore engineering teams
- Experience with telecom, converged communications, or contact center platforms strongly preferred
- Solid experience with Graph
QL, APIs, and cloud-native architectures - Comfortable operating autonomously in ambiguous, high-pressure environments
- Ability to ramp quickly on new platforms and architectures (expected ~1 week)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Dev Ops mindset with awareness of deployment, environments, and operational risk
Success Metrics
- Initial pilot delivered by end of April (single-site deployment)
- Full rollout readiness by June, avoiding legacy platform renewal risk
- Engineering execution accelerates program milestones rather than becoming a bottleneck
- High-quality, testable, maintainable code delivered with minimal rework
