Job Description

The Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling associates and vendors. This position is based in Dallas, TX, in office at the Omni Hotels Corporate Office.

Responsibilities
  • Administration of related solutions for various projects and operational needs.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with best practices and project/operational requirements.
  • Document and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  • Install and maintain current operating system, database, software versions and patches on all Linux based environments.
  • Install and maintain Apache web server configurations, including all packages needed by in-house software.
  • Perform performance monitoring and optimization of servers.
  • Proficient in installation and maintenance of MySQL and Mongo

    DB.
  • Support users of Linux server platforms as required.
  • Support a 24/7/365 environment, including on-call needs.
  • Ability to work at the command line - set up cron jobs efficiently using config files and without using GUI tools for management.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Work along with the Security team to identify any possible vulnerabilities and remediate those systems.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Utilize our Ticketing system to provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Support our property management and reservation system infrastructure for maximum uptime and reliability.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Maintain operation, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Responsibilities will require being on call and at times working off hours based on critical system outages, upgrades, etc.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and SOPs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
  • Linux Server experience is a must.
  • Experience with administering cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Power Shell, Bash) is a plus.
  • Dell Server and storage infrastructure preferred (Power Edge, Power vault, vxRail).
  • Net App SAN experience.
  • NGAV, EDR, WAF, etc. Security tool experience preferred.
  • Office 365 Administration and Exchange Server.
