One Royal Culture Short Story

We have a current opening for a Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position can sit out of our Sacramento, Long Beach, Pleasanton or Dallas Office.

As CIO, this role provides strategic leadership and deep technical expertise to drive digital transformation across the construction enterprise. With a strong foundation in both IT infrastructure and construction operations, the CIO ensures that technology investments align with business goals, enhance project delivery, and support long-term growth.

The CIO leads the development and execution of enterprise-wide IT strategies, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, artificial intelligence and mobile field technologies. By fostering innovation and operational efficiency, the CIO empowers project teams with real-time data, integrated systems, and scalable platforms to improve collaboration, safety, and productivity on job sites.

With a proven track record in managing complex IT portfolios and leading cross‑functional teams, the CIO plays a key role in modernizing legacy systems. This role also champions change management and digital literacy to ensure successful adoption of new technologies across the organization.

Leading with a collaborative, people‑first approach, the CIO fosters a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and cross‑functional alignment. A strong advocate for mentorship, inclusion, and professional development, the CIO builds resilient, high‑performing IT teams ready to innovate and adapt to the future.

Requirements IT Strategy

Strategic Planning:
Lead the development of long‑term strategic goals and initiatives aligned with the company’s mission and vision

• Market Analysis:
Monitor industry trends and technological opportunities and risks

• Cross‑Functional Leadership:
Collaborate with other C‑suite executives (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.) to ensure alignment and execution of strategic plans

• Performance Monitoring:
Establish KPIs and metrics to track the effectiveness of strategic technology initiatives and report progress to stakeholders

• Innovation Leadership:
Drive innovation by fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement

• Stakeholder Communication:
Present strategic plans and updates to the board of directors, investors, and other key stakeholders

• Empowerment through clarity – ensuring teams understand the “why” behind every initiative

• Innovation with purpose – adopting technology that solves real‑world problems on the job site and in the back office

• Evaluate emerging technologies

• Oversee cybersecurity strategy and risk mitigation efforts

• Oversee enterprise applications, ERP, CRM, HR and operational systems

• Execution with discipline – delivering projects on time with measurable ROI

• Deep understanding of construction workflows and how technology can increase efficiency and collaboration. Serve as a bridge between technical teams and business units

• Improved cybersecurity readiness by 60%, achieving ISO compliance and reducing incidents

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field 10+ years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, or executive leadership roles
